Trafford Disability Information Service wanted a site as they didn't have any online presence and wanted one in order to better serve their users. Due to the nature of their service accessibility was key and this also needed to be achieved on a very tight budget and inside a very tight timescale.
Extensive design and site reviews, including having the site tested by their internal disability focus group, combined with strict standards compliance provided a site which is extremely accessible to those with alternative requirements. The font size can be changed, along with alternative stylesheets for those with visual impairments - and the content is semantically ordered so that screen readers will deliver the information optimally to users.
The site was very quickly populated with a massive amount of helpful information by the site admin, which was a key requirement given the deadline, and is now a truly excellent resource for anyone in the area.
