Salford Health Matters wanted an extensive and powerful site which consisted of both a public area for patients and other non-staff which would provide help and information and a private, internal area which would provide staff with several other services. The site was designed to enhance or replace many existing company processes - document storage, reminders, leave requests, mailing lists etc.
The process commenced with a series of meetings to determine the types of user who would use the site, and the kind of things they would want to achieve using the site - all the way from a patient finding out how to register at a surgery all the way to a staff manager reviewing his staff's leave requests. Once all the "user stories" had been collected they were prioritised and divided into development sprints so both the site and the priority list could be regularly assessed by the client as the build progressed.
At the end of the build a very powerful site was created with a multitude of custom functions and processes - allowing staff to book leave, send each other reminders, mail users and staff, upload private and public documents and so forth.
